MY BASKET OF GRIEF
Akinola Promise, in this thought-provoking poem talks about forgotten heroes of war whose labours of selfless sacrifices have been awarded no lasting monuments.
Then, he brings the poem to an explosive end by revealing the ingratitude of a world to a Savior who died for it.
I can't go on being strong,
life's music no longer a sweet song.
I am gripped with grief,
and wish to wither like a leaf.
I cried as others blew the horn,
laying my brother who died in the war,
after defending his uncaring country all day long.
My basket of grief,
is filled with a bitter memory,
of my brother,
our lover,
a soldier,
who stood with us all night,
to keep us from all harms.
My super hero,
Our super duper hero,
A 5-star hero
his own life he gave,
for the souls of many,
to protect them from bitter grave,
dug by their enemies.
My basket of grief,
is filled with the tears that runs down my cheek.
The branch that lost in our family tree,
has made it hard to get out free,
from the bondage of how i feel.
Please, don't tell me he's gone for real,
for this must be a dream.
My basket of grief,
is filled with the scrolls of my poems,
of a man who done is country proud,
but whose name is covered by the cloud,
and has become a forgotten hero; Wow!
On his grave is no inscription,
not even a short cross or stone to make his description.
To all nations and the apathetic crowd,
who do not sing the song of heroes loud,
this is my threnody,
it is not a melody,
so don't dance to its harmony,
for as you've forgotten earthly Soldiers whose lives are Loss,
so you have, for the Man who carried your Cross.

The question is, WHAT IS THE STAND OF A SOLDIER?
Those who fought and risked their lives are worth being built a statue.
Soldiers who go to wars with guns and not chocolates are meant to be praised and remembered for a life time.
Petty compensation is not worth it.

Kudos more grease to your elbow
